Adweek (aka Ad Week or Adweek - Eastern Edition) is a weekly American advertising trade publication that was first published in 1978. Adweek covers creativity, client/agency relationships, global advertising, accounts in review, and new campaigns. During this time, it has covered several notable shifts, including cable television, the shift away from commission-based agency fees, and the Internet. Adweek publishes a blog, Adfreak, which covers the intersection of advertising and pop culture. Adweek is currently owned by the Nielsen Company, a Dutch publishing and research conglomerate controlled by a consortium of private-equity firms. As the second-largest advertising-trade publication, its main competitor is Advertising Age.
